Maori Healing Seminar at Arataki Visitor Centre, Auckland
Wikitoria Maori Healing gave a presentation to ten German medical doctors interested in the indigenous healing and medicine practices of the South Pacific.
The group were welcomed with a traditional whakatau (greeting) before Wikitoria delivered an informative seminar that included an overview and origins of traditional Maori healing, Dis-ease (why we get unwell), Maori concepts of whatumanawa (spiritual dimension), wairua (spirit) and mauri (life force), cellular memory, keys to holistic health, working safely and extraneous energy.
One of the doctors volunteered to go on the table and experience a Romiromi (Traditional Maori massage and healing). Wikitoria explained each stage of the treatment.
A walk through the native bush followed the presentation with Wikitoria explaining and identifying the medicinal properties of the native trees.
Lunch was signatured with kinaki, the indigenous herbs and spices of Aotearoa.
