Māori Healing Workshops 2018
A Māori-Hawaiian -European Exchange
Maori Hawaiian exchange in Rotorua
Students travelled from Poland, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Australia and Hawaii to participate in a Hawaiian Lomilomi massage workshop and a Maori Romiromi healing and massage workshop to continue the global demand for authentic, traditional and indigenous healing bodywork practices.
For the second time Haunani Hopkins from Hawaii was hosted by Wikitoria Maori Healing in their continued exchange of culture, to perpetuate the Polynesian traditional healing arts.
The eight-day intensive, included two levels of Lomilomi massage practice facilitated by Haunani, followed by two levels of Wikitoria’s Maori Romiromi workshops, and was embraced by an international mix of cultures, some return students and local tangata whenua ( the indigenous Maori of Aotearoa – New Zealand).
“It is an honour to celebrate, exchange, teach and share the gift of traditional healing as past down from our ancestors who are our direct link to IO” said Wikitoria.
Lakeside Retreat, Ngongotaha, was the perfect venue for this healing event, catching the sunrises over the sacred ancestral Island of Mokoia on Lake Rotorua and the sunsets behind Maunga Ngongotaha on Wikitoria’s turanga waewae (ancestral place to stand).
