Traditional Maori Massage and Healing in Australia
Queensland-May | Sydney-June | Melbourne-July
Wikitoria Oman of Wikitoria Maori Healing is returning to Australia to facilitate three intensive Romiromi Workshops over the next few months. In Kuranda – Queensland and Kiribilli – Sydney
The workshops are three day intensive and include: Haputanga (pregnancy massage), fertility and an introduction to floor work, as well as an introduction to Traditional Maori healing and Romiromi bodywork.
This ancient practice, includes deep tissue massage, body manipulation and pressure points to bring a body into alignment… closer to its original vibration, and release blockages in the cellular memory.
For each three day intensive she is being joined by co-facilitator Audie Beazley, who specializes in Haputanga and fertility.
Wikitoria and Audie started their apprenticeship in Romiromi and Waananga (house of knowledge), for Traditional Maori Healing in 2002 under their first teacher and mentor the late Tohunga Papa Hohepa De La Mere.
In 2009 they facilitated Maori Healing Workshops in Hawaii on The Big Island, Oahu and Maui after an invitation from the International Lomilomi Association. In 2011-2012 Wiki facilitated twelve workshops including a return to the Big Island .
This year Audie joined Wiki on Waiheke Island to co-facilitate a successful Maori Healing Workshop for twelve students.
Wikitoria is looking forward to her return to Australia as the demand for Maori culture is constantly increasing. For Maori living in Australia an opportunity to learn the traditional Maori Healing Arts is a way to connect back to their intrinsic birthright and turangawaewae (place to stand) in Aotearoa (New Zealand).
The workshops are also popular with holistic health practitioners and body workers of other modalities as Romiromi Massage and healing is a very sacred and deep practice and teaches students how to work in spiritual safety at all times.
In the bigger picture, Wikitoria’s vision is for the Traditional Maori Massage and Healing to spread through the communities of every Australian region for the health and wellbeing of all cultures and communities.
